Chinese Improvers

Your Course
This course is aimed at students who have studied Chinese for about a year and a half. The course will concentrate on listening to and speaking Chinese in realistic, everyday situations and on reading and writing an essential amount of characters.
During this course students will take a short internal assessment in speaking or listening at Preliminary level. This will help to prepare for the OCR Asset language test that will be taken at the end of the Improvers' year.
The course book is"Chinese In Steps, Book 2"by George X Zhang, Lesson 13-15 and will be supplemented by materials developed by the tutor.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course you will have had the opportunity to:
· Ask about different times of the day.
· Talk about duration, i.e. how long does it take?
· Give detailed directions
· Describe ailments to a doctor.
· Express a change, in terms of state or condition.
· Contrast a state of affairs between the past and the present.
· Talk about exchange rates and exchange currencies
Your Tutor
Wenyun Liu is a native Mandarin speaker from Shanghai, China. She has a BA in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and an MPhil Research in Second Language Education. She is now teaching Chinese to non-native speakers at different levels at several educational establishments in Cambridge including the Language Centre of Cambridge University.

Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
