Course programme

Organisations need the knowledge and skills to manage health and safety effectively and safely - being aware of and understanding the issues is not enough.

This course is ideal for key personnel in any business of varying size or sector and is essential for managers, supervisors and senior safety personnel who have a role that includes responsibility for the management of health and safety issues.

The course will enable those who undertake assessment to not only to guide, advise and manage health and safety, but to design and implement policies and procedures.

The course also provides the benefit of then allowing the candidate to deliver the level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, providing they possess the appropriate training skills.

The course is delivered over 6 days by an accredited CIEH tutor, classroom based in either a training centre or at the workplace. The following topics are covered:

  • workplace safety
  • occupational health and hygiene
  • safe systems
  • techniques of safety management
  • education and training
  • legislation

Candidates are assessed by two assignments chosen from a selection of topics and are offered an examination paper. Upon successful completion of the required components certification from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health is gained.
