Course programme
Applied Personnel and Development is one of the four fields that you need to complete to obtain CIPD Graduate membership, and is often the final field our students will complete.
This programme is all about putting your learning from the previous fields into practice by producing a 9,000 word management report which researches a significant business issue.
We recommend you study APD and PMD together as this allows an earlier completion to your studies. This is a result of an element of home study for APD which can be undertaken along with the PMD workload.
Tailored in-house programmes
All our CIPD programmes can be tailored to your organisation's needs and run at one of our study centres or in-house, anywhere in the world. Learning materials, workshops, case studies etc can all be customised within the overall course framework to give greater relevance to the specific workplace.
Programme content
This field rounds off the CIPD Professional Development Scheme (PDS) and tests your ability to research and report on a key business area for development. It is made up of two assessed elements:
* a management report
* a record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
How is the programme taught?
The programme is delivered via CIPD flexible learning, which is a blended learning approach involving workshop attendance and self-study. Run over a four to nine month period with one day of required attendance:
* one full day workshop
* self-study using BPP and CIPD flexible learning materials
During the self-study periods, we recommend you dedicate approximately four hours per week towards completion of the management report and your CPD log. When undertaking self-study you will have access to:
* tutor support
* our Virtual Learning Environment
* online resources via the CIPD website
CIPD flexible learning materials are included in your fees. The CIPD materials provide comprehensive cover of the programme. To help guide your study you are also provided with a BPP Student Handbook and supplementary resource materials.
