Course overview
The CITB Site Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC) The Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC) course provides training on the benefits of adopting behavioural change, for all contractors who work on construction and civil engineering projects.
This course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of how attitude, behaviour, communication and worker engagement at all levels can help prevent the chances of accidents occurring.
The course can be applied to any construction situation. It features the use of the point of work assessment STAARR (Stop, Think, Assess, Act, Report and Review) and the TASK (Think first, Act safe, Stop if hazardous, and Keep safe) card. This is a simple dynamic risk assessment system used where contractors or suppliers through the life of a programme have not adopted their own system.
Aims
To enable delegates to:
· understand basic legal duties of employers andemployees
· identify hazards and understand risk and controlmeasures
· identify the possible causes ofaccidents
· appreciate the link between attitude andbehaviour
· appreciate the cost of poor safetyperformance
· appreciate the benefits of good safetyperformance
· understand the use of STAARR and TASK cardsystems.
Objectives
At the end of the day delegates will be able to:

· identify the benefits of good safetyperformance

Courses are carried out by our fully CITB accredited instructors and the training will be of a high-quality standard throughout.
Who Should Attend?
This course is intended for everyone who works or is involved in the construction industry.
Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisite requirements. Delegates should have a sound understanding of English. Delegates with learning difficulties will not be excluded and we support those with issues such as dyslexia and make specific arrangements for assessments.

Delivery of Course
The course is generally delivered over 1full day. However, an inhouse course can be delivered over any timescale that suits the client.
Examination Information
Delegates who attend will be required to satisfactorily complete a 25-question multiple-choice test at the end of the course to confirm their understanding of the subjects covered.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a CITB accredited certificate which is valid for five years. Re-qualification is by attendance of a further one-day refresher as long as your certificate remains in date. Holding this certificate is recognised by most UK construction companies and will also allow you to gain membership of organisations such as APS, IOSH etc.
