CITB Intermediate Construction Award in Painting & Decorating

Course content:
The course is part of the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship, and prepares the student for work within the Construction Industry.

The units within the programme are:
Store Materials and Equipment
Erect and dismantle working platforms
Work Efficiently
Prepare the work area for operations
Prepare surfaces for decorating
Apply paint materials by brush and roller
Apply standard wallpapers to non-complex surface areas
Apply basic specialist paint finishes
The Key skills areas of Application of number and Communications will also be assessed within this programme.

Assessment procedure:
Most assessments are practical in nature and undertaken at the College. There are also standard phase tests, and two externally set assessments for knowledge and understanding, and Health and Safety.

Progression opportunities:
Students can progress onto Decorative Occupations Level 3.

Most full-time students do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, if you have just left school, you may be eligible for an Educational Maintenance Allowance.
