WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This is an introductory qualification based on the teaching cycle. It is assessed at level 3 (Theory + Practice).

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
There are five sections to this unit:

1 - Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching

2 - Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area

3 - Demonstrate session planning skills

4 - Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions

5 - Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
This course is assessed through theoretical and practical activities including 36 contact and 30 non-contact hours over a 12 week period. The 36 contact hours include a 30 minute micro teach in class.

Attendance at college on dates to be fixed will be for 3 hours per week.

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
On successful completion you will gain a Certificate in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS). This is a single unit award.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
You can progress onto the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Sector (CTLLS) or the Professional Certificate in Education year 1.
