The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to operate SAGE software to carry out routine accounting tasks. These will include being able to create accounts, process accounting information in respect of the sales and purchase ledger, understanding how to use batch control sheets and being able to produce accounting reports such as trial balance, customer activity reports and supplier details reports. Suitable for: This qualification is aimed at candidates seeking a first qualification in the practical use of computerised accounting systems

About this course

There are no formal entry requirements although students should have a reasonable level of numeracy and basic IT skills. An understanding of the terms used in basic book-keeping is recommended, therefore candidates with limited or no accounts experience may benefit from completing City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Book-keeping and Accounts prior to, or alongside, the Computerised Accounts course.

The course covers the following topics:

• Create accounts using computerised software; (adding new accounts to the purchase ledger, adding new accounts to the sales ledger, creating new accounts in the nominal ledger)

• Process accounting information using computerised software; (processing information in respect of the sales and purchase ledger, entering initial capital, processing information involving transactions using different tax rates, processing cash and cheque payments and receipts)

• Understand how to use batch control sheets; (calculating and reconciling batch totals as required)

• Produce reports using computerised accounts software; (Trial balances, supplier activity reports, customer activity reports, supplier details reports, customer details reports, nominal ledger accounts reports)
