Brief Description of the Course:

This course focuses on the delivery and enhancement of employability skills to support students in successfully gaining employment in the animal care sector.

Students complete practical work in the College’s Animal Centre within the Rare Breeds Farm in addition to work experience within the sector. Community projects offer students the opportunity work as a team within the park.

Entry Criteria:

Students must have a keen interest in gaining employment in the animal care sector. No previous qualifications are necessary, though an Entry Level Diploma in Skills For Working Life (Animal Care) may support your application.

Students must attend a relevant placement in the animal industry, for example, veterinary practice, boarding kennel, pet retail organisation or canine grooming parlour.

Assessments:

During the course students build a portfolio of evidence; there is no formal end exam.

Possible Careers / Jobs:

Employment in kennels, catteries, pet shop, grooming parlour, welfare societies e.g. RSPCA.

Progression:

Employment or the Level 1 or Level 2 in Animal Care
