This course will give you a good grounding in the floristry industry, opening the door to an interesting career. It is suitable for both school leavers and career changers.

This course replaces the National Certificate in Floristry.

About the course
This is a one-year course leading to a Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Floristry. You will gain a lot of practical experience as well as learning about the underpinning knowledge of floristry. The course also includes practical work experience within the industry, and covers all the floristry tasks expected of a junior florist.
You may also have the opportunity to join a study tour and compete or help out at national shows and demonstrations.

  • Identification and processing of cut materials
  • Introduction to art and design for florists
  • Identification and maintenance of plants and planted designs
  • Hand-tied and presentation designs
  • Funeral and sympathy designs:
  • Simple wedding designs with floral materials and accessories
  • Display of goods
  • Introduction to working within the floristry industry
  • Floral arrangements for various occasions
  • Function decorating using floral displays
  • Functional skills in Maths, English or ICT
