CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership

Introduction
This revised Diploma programme focuses upon the practical application of management theory and principles in the context of the developing middle manager, thus providing a foundation for continuing professional development in management. It also provides the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss alternative approaches with managers from other organisations. The new structure has been designed by the CMI in a unit based format following customer requests and for the developing UK and European credit frameworks.  64 nominal credits are required to complete this programme.  Award and Certificate options are also available.

• How to identify, plan use and evaluate resources to meet objectives
• How to manage individual and team performance
• How to meet stakeholder requirements, to agree quality standards and seek improvements
• Undertake a management project â€" identify, research, produce and evaluate impact
• Understand projects, develop project plans and management strategies and ensure projects achieve objectives with targets
• How to identify individuals required for work objectives and provide objective development opportunities for individuals
• How to identify a need for staff, selecting objectively and inducting effectively within legal and organisational requirements

Suitability

The Diploma in Management is designed for middle managers who want to develop their management skills and/or aspire to senior management.

Assessment

Successful completion of 8 assignments and a work-based project of approximately 6,000 words followed by a presentation. The project is an integrated part of the programme and counts for 10 credits.

Progression

This programme is approved by the Open University (60 H points) for candidates wishing to progress onto an MBA.
Candidates will have the option of undertaking The Chartered Managers Award integrated with the Diploma Project.
