This enables them to work on high integrity fabrications. The course covers aspects of TIG & ARC Welding. This course is run on a Thursday evening 2 1/2 hours per week over 17 weeks

This course is intended for experienced welders wishing to gain a commercial coding qualification. This enables them to work on high integrity fabrications. The course covers aspects of TIG & ARC Welding

This course is run on a Thursday evening 2 1/2 hours per week over 17 weeksEntry RequirementsSeveral years of welding experience/welding techniques used on a daily basis.
A good level of written and spoken english is required.
Course Content
The course is designed to consist of:
·Practical assessment of current skills (sample welds)
·Discussions on tuition requirements
·Practical welding sessions (edge preparation, welding parameters, weld inspection and testing).

Candidates have the opportunity to select the appropriate Weld Tests.

Weld Tests available are:

·BS 4872
·ASME IX
·BS EN 287/288

How will I be assessed?

Welder testing is conducted at the end of the module and an
External Inspection Authorityconducts the assessments.
The tests consist of:
·Witnessing of weld test piece preparation
·Witnessing of the welding of the test piece
·Visual examination of the welded test piece
·Testing of the weld piece.

Successful candidates will be awarded aWelder Approval Certificateappropriate to the weld test undertaken.

What can I do next?
On completion of a coded welder qualification, students may choose to progress with further coded welding approvals.
For those wishing to develop their practical and theoretical knowledge of Welding and Fabrication they can choose theLevel 3 2800 Technical Certificate.
