There are both practical and theoretical modes of study culminating in a ten hour minimum voluntary leadership placement. What will I study?
Learn to lead groups of people from varying backgrounds, ages and abilities. You will learn how to plan, conduct and evaluate a session as well as how to umpire and referee different sports. Duration:
One lesson per week for one year

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
An interest in working with children and leading groups of all ages is essential.

How will I be assessed?
There will be continual assessment throughout the course on your practical leadership skills and you will also complete a log book.

What can I do afterwards?
You can progress to the Level 3 Higher Sport Leadership Award in your second year. This is good preparation for teaching/coaching jobs or general leadership.

Are there any additional costs involved?
The College provides CSLA books. You will be required to pay a refundable deposit at the beginning of the year, which you will receive back once you have completed the course successfully. You will also need to purchase a college sport leadership T shirt and whistle, plus there will be a small charge for the accompanying first aid qualification.
