Course content:
This course is in three 18 week parts:-
OCR Level 3 Certification for IT Practitioners Unit 22
(18 weeks):
Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows XP
Professional (70-270) which provides the student with the
knowledge and skills to implement and support the deployment
of Microsoft Windows XP in a variety of network environments.
Semester 2
Managing & Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Environment (70-290) which provides the knowledge and skills
to manage accounts and resources in a Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 environment.
OCR Level 3 Certification for IT Practitioners Unit 21
(18 weeks):
Implementing, Managing & Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure (70-291) which provides the knowledge and skills to implement, manage and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure.
The course is intended for candidates who are working towards becoming systems administrators and seeking the specific Microsoft training prior to sitting the external examinations leading to the internationally recognised qualification of Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator MCSA.
Assessment procedure:
The units will be assessed by Microsoft set and marked, external on-line examinations

(70-290) Implementing, Managing & Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.
Progression opportunities:
This qualification prepares students for employment in jobs involving network installation, administration and troubleshooting.
