To respond appropriately to violence and aggression. To protect themselves and others for whom they are responsible. To report and record incidents as required by their employer. Suitable for those learners who are in any role where they may be at risk of facing violence or aggression. There are a wide range of roles to which the qualifications may be relevant including: care workers, hospital staff, banking and retial sector customer roles, civil service roles where staff come into contact with public, public transport etc.

Award of this qualification:
- To achieve the full award a learner must complete both mandatory units
- A learner may also achieve unit certification for an individual unit. The certificate will give details of the unit achieved
- To successfully achieve a unit the learner must present evidence for all the assessment criteria as documented in the ‘What you need to do’ section of each unit
Assessment:
Assessment is by the building up a portfolio of evidence made up of tasks that cover the assessment criteria. The portfolios are internally assessed, internally moderated within the centre and then externally moderated by OCNW. Tasks set should cover all the relevant assessment criteria and it is advised the criteria which the tasks aim to cover is clearly indicated in order to:
- Ensure learners can clearly see the purpose and expected outcome of the risk
- To ensure that all the criteria are clearly covered
