What's it all about?:
Not only do you have to keep up with construction deadlines, but it can be a challenge to keep up-to-date with construction techniques and technology, never mind any new legislation on health and safety. However, you must remain abreast of regulatory updates and understand how you can put theory into practice. Our 15-week course aims to help you do just that because neglecting health and safety not only risks lives but can also cost a business dearly legally and financially.

Progression:
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to apply health and safety as part of job responsibilities.

Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
• four to five* GCSEs at grades A*-C (including English and maths)
• an intermediate GNVQ in a related subject
• a BTEC first diploma in a related subject
• an NVQ Level 2/technical certificate in a related subject
• successful completion of an apprenticeship course
• successful completion of the Gateway/Newstart course
• equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Duration: 15 weeks Course Overview
What does the course involve?:

The following modules are studied
• identification and controlling of hazards
• management of safety
• health and safety law
• accident prevention within the construction industry.

When can I study?:
Mondays, 9.00am - 5.00pm

Are there any exams?:
Assessment is by an examination set by NEBOSH and held at the College.
