About the course : This qualification is intended for experienced qualified (post Level 4 & 5) counsellors who wish to continue to develop their understanding and skills in order to provide clinical supervision for counselling practitioners who are working with clients at an appropriate agency setting. Participants will need to have both supervisees and supervisory supervision, and be working as counsellors under supervision.
Course content :
The course consists of theory seminars with experiential work, supervisory practice and case presentations. The assessment requires a Candidate Portfolio including, Reflective Learning Reviews, and an externally assessed Case Review (3,000 -3,500 words). Additional study time requires approximately 6 - 8 hours per week.
After this course : Successful candidates may progress onto further training in counselling and psychotherapy and work towards professional accreditation with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy BACP. The Open University provides further training routes with credits for CPCAB qualifications. Universities will consider successful applicants for their qualifications in Counselling and Psychology. Employment opportunities as a Counsellor, Coordinator & or Supervisor with the NHS, Private Healthcare, Employee Assistance Programmes, Counselling Services, Addiction Treatment Services.

Entry Requirement
: Candidates must satisfy one of the following two entry requirements:
1) Have completed either a Level 5 Certificate or Diploma in Counselling, and must also have acquired one additional year (part-time) of supervised clinical experience (post Level 5) prior to starting the TCSU-L6 course.
2) Have completed a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (or its APL and/or APEL equivalent - min. 450 hours GLH, including prior qualifications) and must also have acquired two additional years (part-time) of supervised clinical experience (post Level 4 Diploma) prior to starting the TCSU-L6 course.
The Awarding Body (CPCAB) strongly recommends that applicants should be aged over 25 years. However, applicants under 25 will be considered. A CRB declaration is also required.
Course requirements:
Supervision work experience: You must be in an appropriate setting that would support you working with supervisee†s. You must complete a minimum of 15 hours of supervision work and have the opportunity to apply the learning covered by the programme.
Requirements for Supervisory Supervision:
CPCAB requires candidates (in order to support their own supervision practice) to have a minimum of five supervisory supervision hours with a senior/experienced clinical supervisor. This should take the form of group and/or one-to-one supervision.
