Nominated Judge of the Court of Protection Visiting Professor, School of Law, Northumbria University Gordon was appointed a District Judge at Preston in 1992 after 28 years in general legal practice in Cumbria. He now sits part-time at small courts in south Cumbria. He is currently a Vice-President at the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen, a patron for Solicitors for the Elderly, has previously served as a tutor judge at the Judicial Studies Board (2000-2009) and as part-time Chair of Social Security Appeals Tribunal (1985-2001). ...

Barnet Civil and Family Court Centre Nominated Judge of the Court of Protection Marc sits at Barnet Civil and Family Court Centre. As a nominated Judge at the Court of Protection he sits regularly at the court in Archway where he is also involved in the development of the practice and procedure of the new Court of Protection. Marc has written for the Law Society Gazette and contributes to Practical Civil Court Precedents and the Court of Protection Practice 2010 (Jordans).

Receive practical insight from two experienced judges, District Judge Gordon Ashton and District Judge Marc Marin, on the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and your practice in the Court of Protection.
As well as covering the statutory framework, commencement of proceedings, recent case law and current issues, there will be ample opportunity for delegates to put their questions to the two experienced Court of Protection judges. Where relevant, commentary will also be provided on proposed reforms and the future direction of the Court.
