Course programme

The Department For Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR) is responsible for the implementation in the UK of the European Community Directive 96/35/EC. This Directive is about the appointment and training of safety advisers involved in the carriage of dangerous goods by road. By the 1st January 2000, any company or other organisation that transports dangerous goods (and certain other organisations involved in report related activities), should have appointed a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser or Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers Consultant.

Training:

Sigma Studies can now offer a 5-day intensive DGSA training course. The aim is to give persons who have been put forward to become the company DGSA a full understanding of the regulations and procedures, prior to sitting the examination.

Before their appointment, DGSA's must gain a Vocational Training Certificate (VTC) by passing approved examinations. The DTLR is responsible for the approval of the examinations and it has appointed the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) as its agent.
