Over 6 sessions, develop a large scale colour sketchbook stimulated by a sequence of experimental colour exercises, sketching in galleries, studio set-ups, ideas and themes, using a range of colour materials and processes. For artists, illustrators and creative makers, you will engage in creative exercises and intuitive responses to build a personal, valuable resource to inform your work.

About this course
1. Record your explorations and experiemnts using the components of colour and as colour as a resource in sketchbooks
2. Utilise visual stimuli from gallery research and studio work to develop personal themes
3. Develop confidence in explorations of personal themes
4. Develop a sketchbook for ideas generation and visual expression
5. Extend and expand use of colour materials
5. Widen knowledge of selected artists work in colour.

Course programme
1. Experiment with the components of colour: Hue, Chroma and Value, in structured exercies
2. Develop ideas, themes and processes in sketchbooks from visual stimuli on location in galleries and in the studio
3. Gallery visits: to observe, sketch and be inspired by the use of colour in selected paintings in the National Gallery and the Tate galleries.
4. In the studio: develop personal sketchbook use and visual expression using colour materials including pencils, pastels, paper and acrylics. Processes include: sketching, layering, blending, mark-making, note taking, collage and painting
5. Explore the colour sketchbooks of selected artists including Turner.
