Course programme
We will revisit the main processes of etching using zinc plates: hard and soft ground, fine and coarse aquatint. We will cover some more complex etching techniques, such as open bite etching and the various ways of using aquatint, including sugar lift and spit bite. We will explore colour printing methods, such as two plate printing, à la poupée inking and colour viscosity printing. We will refer to the etchings of historical and contemporary artists and consider our own subject matter.
