Many productions in the current market place are turning to digital video as their format of choice. This is a comprehensive , practice oriented, hands-on workshop for new filmmakers, film school students and graduates interested in making their first video and learning how to work in the professional filmmaking industry.
This intensive workshop immerses students in the methodology and craft of story telling for DV productions.
It include narrative, documentary and commerical genres, students learn cinematic language, story telling, storyboarding, creating a shooting script, location scouting, casting talent, rehearsing, blocking, directing actors and working on a crew.
The course covers all the roles involved in production as well as the necessity of collaboration between the producer, director, director of photography, production manager, assistant director, camera operator, camera assistant, grip, gaffer, script supervisor, sound recordist and editor.
The class includes hands-on camera work, location and studio lighting, along with instruction in set safety and etiquette.
Finally students are introduced to final cut pro and the entire post production process.
In the ten weeks students will work together and are expected to research, write, shoot, and edit a minimum of two finished works.
Availability to work outside the class times with your production crews will be expected.
