The Level 2 Diploma in Trowel Occupations is a course based on
practical skills and associated skills knowledge. It will help prepare you to enter the construction industry as a bricklayer.
The topics you will study include:
· Know how to carry out safe working practices
· Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating
with others
· Knowledge of building methods and construction technology
· Know how to interpret working drawings to set out masonry
structures
· Knowledge of thin joint masonry cladding
· Know how to build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
· Know how to build cavity walling forming masonry structures.
You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include qualifications in Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards relevant to the subject you are studying.
How will I be assessed?
Your job knowledge and practical skills will be assessed in a number of ways, including:
· Practical tests
· Observations of you working
· Assignments and knowledge questions
Projects
· Portfolio of evidence
· By completing a test at the end of the year.
You will be given plenty of support throughout your studies. Tutors and support staff will guide you through the different projects and assignments to ensure you get the most from the course.

Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
