SIRM is in the process of seeking an “Agreement” with a UK University for the approval, recognition and acceptance of SIRM Postgraduate Diploma in Information Security and Assurance (PgD ISA) for entry onto Master of Science (MSc).

Formerly SIRM had an Articulation Agreement with the School of Computing and Mathematical Science (CMS), the University of Greenwich (UoG), through which, SIRM Students holding Postgraduate Diploma in Information Security and Assurance (ISA) gained successful entry onto MSc Computer Security and Audit (CSA) at dissertation stage. Our first batch joined UoG in Sep 07 had 83% success rate in dissertation. SIRM most recent batch joined the University on 22 September 2008 for Dissertation Submission. Upon successful completion, university will award full MSc degree to the successful candidates in May/June 2009.

The course emphasizes the risk exposures in an Information System environment and focuses on the internal controls to minimize these risks. The course will be suitable for;

Recent graduates or qualified accountants who are seeking specialist knowledge in the areas of computer auditing and systems accounting

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement of our Postgraduate course is an Undergraduate (Honours) Degree equivalent to that of UK University in computing or business related subjects. The basis of offers made to applicants will be reviewed regularly in relation to the demand for places.

English proficiency is essential:
The content of the course are not the exclusive province of any single discipline or any combination of disciplines. Some backgrounds are more suitable for entry to the course than others. Each student will be considered on an individual basis. Candidates may be interviewed at the discretion of the Course Organizers or a delegated representative of the Course Organizers.

Course Structure:
The course has a flexible modular structure and consists of eight core subjects and a Project. A particular emphasis is given in achieving an optimal balance of theory and practice; students will be given exposure to leading-edge software and assurance practices.

Duration:
PgD – Minimum 9 months
MSc Dissertation – 3 months

Course Breakdown:
The whole program will be taught at SIRM Partner College. Successful students will have to submit their dissertation at the University to obtain full MSc degree from the University. Students are required to obtain good marks (minimum 60%) to obtain successful entry onto the Dissertation phase at the University and also need to fulfil the university admission criteria.
