About this course

You will need to have completed the level 2 Diploma in Systems Support before moving on to level 3. You should also have GCSE grades that demonstrate a proficiency in Mathematics and written and spoken English, and a spread of other subjects at grade C or above.

About the Course
This one-year course consists of five units, one core Unit plus four other Units:
Core Unit
Customer Support Provision Provide customers with agreed levels of support, recommend improvements in customers†use of ICT.
Other Units include
Plan for the delivery of ICT Support Services Find out customer requirements for ICT services and support; develop plans for acquiring ICT systems, making sure the ICT infrastructure delivers what is required.
Install, Configure and Integrate Networked Hardware and Software Risk assessment, health and safety; the user environment; install hardware and software; expand and integrate additional facilities.
Install and Configure Software Load, configure and test software.
System Testing Plan and carry out hardware and software tests.
System and Network Management Maintain system operation, schedule jobs, backup and restore.
Maintain Equipment and SystemsIdentify technical problems, their causes, and solutions.
ICT Security Security for users, profiles,and ICT systems and networks. To achieve this qualification, you need to be well-organised, well-motivated, and able to stick closely to deadlines. You should have a real interest in computers and networks, a desire to try out the skills you learn, and be committed to completing the course, which runs for a year.
This course combines well with Computing A Level, Applied ICT A Level and other courses which make use of computers at an advanced level.

What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed through a combination of an on-line multiple-choice test (pass/fail) and practical assignments (pass/credit/distinction).
Completion of all five units will give you the Advanced Diploma qualification.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
With the skills you will develop, and a nationally recognised vocational qualification, you could go straight into employment as a trainee in the IT industry, or continue with further study of Computing and ICT at advanced level.
The qualification may also help you secure a place at university.
