Diploma In Teaching In The Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)

About the course:
This course is a level 5 qualification for teachers who require the necessary knowledge and skills for a career in Teaching, this course is also suitable for those wishing go onto teach a specialism in Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL. The7305 Diploma will give you academic grounding, but with a focus on developing practical teaching skills and experience; required for teaching in the post compulsory sector.

Course Content:
The course consists of seven mandatory units and two optional units plus your teaching practice. This will be observed on several occasions. Candidates will study the theory and principles of planning and enabling learning, preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector, planning and enabling learning, assessment and enabling learning, continuing personal and professional development, curriculum development, inclusive practice and wider professional practice.

The qualification is awarded at Level 5 and is assessed through the completion of all the units assignments for the course.

Equipment Requirements:
You will be required to supply your own paper, pens, ruler & folder to enable participation in the classes.

Assessment:
The course is assessed by assignments for each of the core units, plus those specified for optional units. Time also needs to be allocated for self-directed study and research. Assessment will be a key requirement of the course, this will be carried out via 8 lesson observations.

Progression:
The Diploma fulfils the qualification requirements of QTLS licensed practitioners status in England, however you can go onto teach a specialism in Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL

Requirement

Be teaching on a publicly funded course
Candidates will need to ensure that they have access to a minimum of 75hours per year (150hrs total) of group teaching practice or training over the course. This is a 2yr programme, however you maybe exempt from some elements if you have an existing PTLLS or CTLLS qualification. New students embarking on a teaching career will need to start with the PTLLS then CTLLS course.

If English is not your first language: IELTS 6.0 (including 6.0 writing) or a TOEFL score of 550 (paperbased), 213 (computer-based) or equivalent
