Join us for a weekend and leave with an essential toolkit to start developing your own documentary projects.
You gain an overview of documentary filmmaking in the UK to provide you with a thorough understanding of the industry, looking at: festivals, broadcasters, funding bodies, electronic bulletins, and resource reference points. Over the weekend you look at the paperwork associated with documentary filmmaking with particular focus on the treatment and video press kit as well as contracts, scheduling, release forms and insurance policies. London Film Academy gives you samples of essential filmmaking paperwork so that you can use them to write your own project documents during and following the course.
Sessions cover budget management skills, focusing on decisions about crew size, camera format, sound set up, length of shoot, post production.
Practical workshops explore how to film your documentary: including camera and sound set ups, other equipment requirements and how to shoot for the edit, before looking at the editing process including: the offline edit, getting to a locked picture, music, sound mix, track laying, grading and on lining for broadcast.
Our tutors provide industry-relevant advice on pitching your ideas to industry while ensuring you understand the distribution and exhibition process.
