Documentary Filmmaking No qualification

Level: Beginners

Course content:
This five-week course will aim to provide students with a grounding of the technical and creative skills required to become a documentary filmmaker. From developing the idea through to shoot and edit, students with create a short documentary example.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
1) Create and develop an effective idea.
2) Develop and use interview techniques
3) Formulize and use different shooting styles
4) Identify and explain the basic functionalities of a digital camera
5) Identify and explain the basic functionalities of Final Cut Pro

Course Structure:
Idea Development; Interview Technique; Style, Format and Shooting Technique; Editing and Documentary â€-storytelling; Marketing and Distributing the Documentary

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centre. This includes free Internet access. Your practical training will take place in a fully equipped studio.

Assessment:
Assessment will be through practical work. The completed film will be screened at the college and evaluated by all students.

Make a short film, gain work in the industry, apply for film school.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
Students will be requested to bring their own tapes and DVDs.
