Course Overview

DVA Individual Structured Interview one day mandatory training is being offered free to all Relate counsellors until December 31st 2009

It forms the first model of the DVA training programme which also includes Awareness & Safety & Assessment & Intervention

The course is designed to equip counsellors with a model of work to assist recognition and effective response to domestic violence and abuse and in particular to increase practitioners’ skills and ability.

Objectives

  • Provide background and context to the introduction of the Individual Structured Interviews and the Responsive Model.
  • Make clear the focus on safety and the appropriateness of services within Relate.
  • Gain an understanding of the use of the ISI and how it fits with the Responsive Model’s focus on safety.
  • Be able to link the use of the ISI as a tool with the range of responses available for the clients.
