Course Aims:
To develop Drawing & Painting techniques, skills and applications through tutor guidance and practical experimentation.
Course Content:
This course is designed to provide an opportunity to develop your Drawing and Painting skills. Students will cover composition, line, tone and colour in different contexts using a range of Drawing and Painting techniques.
Students will be made aware of the development of Drawing and Painting within Art History.
Course projects to include:- Representing three dimensional form - still life-portraiture - landscape & nature - architecture - students' personal projects.
As the course progresses students will be expected to develop their portfolio skills with a strong emphasis on presentation and display of their work.
Students will also be required to keep a sketchbook and a personal record of their development throughout their work.
Progression:
There are a variety of part-time and Leisure courses available within the Faculty. NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Craft (Drawing and Painting)

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria.

Other Costs:
You will need to start off with an A3 sketchbook and pencils. Other materials will be needed later on in the course and your tutor will advise you about what is needed and when.
Duration:
2 hours a week for 30 weeks.
