About this course
Delegates must have studied the Highway Code. Minibus drivers should have studied the RoSPA Essential Minibus Driving Booklet, which is provided free with the course.

Previously known as 'Defensive Driving', this enhanced course now incorporates defensive driving and fuel-saving techniques. Each course will be tailored around the needs of individual delegates, following a training needs assessment. It is designed to form part of a life-long programme of driver development.
RoSPA offers the following driver development training courses, which are tailored to the needs of the vehicle in question:
- Motorbikes
- Cars
- Light commercial vehicles
- Large goods vehicles
- Passenger-carrying vehicles, including minibuses

A good understanding of how to maximise safety margins and minimise risks when driving in town, country and motorway environments.
Course content includes:
- Defensive driving techniques
- Group discussions on the causes of risks
- Individual driving assessment with driver development advice and coaching
- Practical coaching sessions covering the application of defensive driving techniques
- Observation skills and anticipation of potential hazards
- A performance report outlining key learning points and areas for improvement
Delegates can now upgrade to a Level 2 BTEC in Driver Development.
