The course will provide the learner with an awareness of: The types of drugs and why they are used. The social and personal effects of drug use and how they are commonly portrayed. Perceptions of, and responses to, drug use. The course would benefit adult (16+) learners who are interested in drug use/misuse as a professional or personal learning and development need.

Course Content
The course looks at:
·Attitudes, stereotypes and myths relating to drug use
·Basic factual information on drugs, effects, risks, what they look like and legal status.
·The social and personal effects of drug use and how these issues are commonly and frequently portrayed within society
·Sources of support / information about drugs and drug use within Wolverhampton & nationally.
The course is delivered over one and a half days and courses run throughout the year.
The course is considered 'informal but informative' learners will undertake group work, discussions and tasks to support the completion of the course workbook.
All materials for the course are provided and learners will receive a 'Learner's Resource Pack' at the end of the course.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed via a workbook, which is completed over the course duration.
Learners will receive the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Drug Awareness upon successful completion and verification of the workbook.
