Who is this course for?
This course is for people who may never have played any kind of drums before, or for those who are moving from stick drumming to hand drumming or vice versa.

What previous knowledge/experience are required?
No experience required.

What is the level of the course?
This is a mixed level course for absolute beginners up to intermediate level.

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
Learning outcomes (including what the student will be able to do by the end of the course : - learn hand and stick drumming techniques e.g. Single strokes, double strokes, drags, flams, ruffs and paradiddles will be learned on sticks as well as Latin American bell and timbale patterns.

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
Group and pair work, demonstrations, lectures and DVD.

How will we assess your progress on the course?
There will be continuous assessment through exercises set by the tutor.

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
This leads to a WMC certificate.

What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
Students are expected to practice on a weekly basis.

What can I do after completing this course?
Students can progress to the Music theory courses within the college or to private tuition, or to public performance.

Are there any other costs? (e.g. materials, equipment or books I need to buy before or during the course)
Advice will be given on purchase of sticks, pads and instruments during the first class. STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE ANY EQUIPMENT BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS.

Are there any other requirements?
You are required to attend every lesson on time.
