ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The BCS Level 1 iTQ Award (ECDL Essentials) is NOT SUITABLE for absolute beginners. Applicants should already be in possession of a Level 1 IT qualification such as New CLAIT or City & Guilds for IT users, which has been obtained within the last three years or hold an entry Level 3 IT qualification such as OCR Digital Literacy or City & Guilds start IT obtained within the last 12 months. Candidates who do not hold these types of qualification would be expected to have good experience of using IT in the workplace and be looking for certification. In addition good English language skills are essential as is an understanding of basic maths.
On enrolment you will be asked to undertake an IT and basic literacy and numeracy assessment to ascertain suitability for the course.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
The BCS Level 1 iTQ Award replaces the current ECDL Essentials qualification bringing it up to date and making it more relevant for the work environment. For those wishing to obtain the original internationally recognised ECDL qualification you will still be able to do this as this course constitutes the first part of that qualification. The award aims to introduce students to basic computer concepts including using email and the internet, computer security and managing your operating system and its files.
Module 1 - IT User Fundamentals;
Module 2 - Using Email software;
Module 3 - Making effective use of the Internet;
Module 3 - Security for IT Users
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of part one you will receive a Level 1 iTQ award and be invited to join the next level of course (BCS Level 2 iTQ Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL Extra) where the remaining modules will be completed.
On completion of both the award and the certificate you will be given the option to complete one extra (optional) unit for the full origional ECDL/ICDL.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE One online assessment per module (3 in total)
