What will I study?
AS: Developing an understanding of economic theory, you will investigate a range of broad economic issues and topics. These include: how prices are determined in markets, the problems of providing public services such as the NHS and policing and how the credit crunch caused shocks to our economy.

A2: A more in-depth study of the behaviour of firms and how they operate, the benefits of competition and how increasing globalisation affects the UK. You will examine the arguments regarding increased social provision against the arguments that taxes should fall.

Study Visits
Visit to Disneyland Paris or Brussels and possible day visits. These are very helpful but not compulsory.

Cost
£200 (approx) for Disneyland Paris or Brussels trip; no more than £15 per trip for day visits.

Assessment
AS Level: 2 papers both with assessment by written examination comprising 25 multiple-choice questions and a written data response question from a choice of two.

A2 Level: 2 papers both with assessment by written examination comprising one data response question from a choice of two and one essay from a choice of three titles.
