Who is this course for?
This course is for Pre-Intermediate learners of English who want to improve their language skills and gain a recognised qualification.

What are the entry requirements?
A pass at ESOL Skills for Life Entry Level 1, or pass at initial assessment/interview. You should be able to write in capitals and small letters, and to read, recognise and write simple sentences. You need to be able to listen and respond to requests for personal information.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.

What qualification will I receive?
University of Cambridge Certificates in ESOL Skills for Life Entry Level 2: Reading Mode, Writing Mode, and Speaking & Listening mode.

Where can it lead?
It will improve job prospects and enable you to progress to the next language level and/or other appropriate courses.

What will I study?
You will develop and practise all the language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will also work on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.

How will I be taught?
You will have to buy a coursebook and workbook. In addition your teachers will use a variety of learning materials and classroom activities. Daytime courses may the use of computers. All students are encouraged to use the library (Learning Resources Centre), which has a large selection of books, tapes, CDs, videos and CD-Roms to help you with your studies. Free access to language websites on the Internet is also available.

How will I be assessed?
You will have regular homework, progress tests and a mock examination a few weeks before the final examinations.

What support is available while I am on the course?
Your teachers will be able to help and advise you during your course, which includes at least one personal tutorial per course. The college offers a comprehensive range of student services including careers guidance.
