As with the Electronic Engineering degree, you’ll learn through lectures, tutorials, example classes, face-to-face contact with academics for resolving module queries, laboratories, coursework assignments and projects. Practical work in electrical and electronic engineering will begin in the first year with the third-year individual project forming a major part of the course. Our state-of- the-art laboratories are equipped with software and instruments to support varied teaching activities and the course significantly benefits from close links with industry.

In your first year, and into your second year, you will follow a multidisciplinary route into engineering, with modules covering the core areas of the subject including electrical and electronic engineering topics. In the third year there is a focused specialisation in electrical and electronic engineering, which will include your individual project. Fourth-year optional modules reflect the School’s key research areas including power electronics, communications, ASICs and silicon-based smart sensors.

As a graduate of the BEng or MEng course you will be well placed to contribute within a variety of sectors and industries such as power electronics, electrical power generation, aerospace, automotive and the built environment.
