Who is this course for?

What are the entry requirements?
Ideally an EMPTA Foundation Certificate in Electronics or a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English. You will be assessed on your English and Maths skills at interview.

You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.
What qualification will I receive?
The course leads to the City & Guilds 6958 Electrical & Electronics Servicing Level 2 qualification. (Replacing C&G 2240 1 & 2)
Where can it lead?
Level 3 Progression Awards or C&G 2240 Electronic Servicing Level 3.
What will I study?
Subjects you will study include DC Technology, Components and Circuits, AC Technology and Electronic Components, Electronic Devices and Testing, Electronic Systems, Digital Electronics and Commercial Electronics.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught through a mix of theory and practical sessions.
How will I be assessed?
Practical assignments and written examinations.

If you need additional help in English, Maths or IT, learning support is provided either integrated within your programmes of study or as separate drop in sessions.
