Content:
Day one
· Welcome and introductions.
· Pre test.
· Setting and workshop expectations/related safety.
· S.O.E. (IRTE) Code Of Practice.
· Fundamentals of electricity.
· Ohms law.
· Cable size, grading, colour and DIN numbers.
· The multimeter and it's functions.
· Relays and diodes.
· Basic circuit building.
· Practical multimeter exercises.
Day Two
· Wiring looms/harnesses.
· Soldering and terminals.
· Multimeter checks.
· Generic wiring diagrams.
· Component testing.
· Electrical circuits.
· Simulated wiring of appliances/accessories in classroom situation under supervised instruction.
· Encourage and build confidence in electrical fitting and testing.
· Starter and alternator theory.
· Battery 12v and 24v configurations.
· Alternator circuits.

Day 2 Continued & Day 3

· Systematic approach Realistic job preparation and planning for vehicle fitting out.
· Connectors/multi-plugs and fixing terminals.
· On board vehicle accessory and ancillary electrical surveying.

Day 3 Continued & Day 4.

· Planning for vehicle fitting out cont'd.
· Electrical safety reinforced.
· Vehicle job (appliance/accessory) allocation.
· Tools, equipment and electrical spares/components for fitting out.
· Teams start fitting out under instructor demonstration, supervision and practice.
· Fitting out teams start to alternate jobs and tasks.
· Progressive electrical quality fitting out checks by instructor and delegates.
· Fitting out teams check own work using electrical test equipment.
· Post test.
· Course review and open forum.
