About this course
Basic Literacy and Numeracy will be tested. English, Maths & Science @ GCSE grade C minimum is sought. A keen interest in electrical installation is of course desirable. There is some mathematical content but all necessary skills are taught throughout the course.

Study Method:
One day per week or two evenings
Duration :A two year course which can be undertaken during one day per week or evening sessions.
Who the Course is For:
Part time day courses are for electrician apprentices who have been released by their employer to obtain the relevant qualifications for the industry. Day students will be expected to provide their employer details. Evening attendance is open to all who wish to obtain these qualifications for career progression or change of career. Approx cost - 445 + 30 College Reg.
Assessment:
Formal assessment consists of two C&G on-line multiple choice examinations, Health & Safety and Science.
Course Leads To:
The award of the C&G 2330 Year1 certificate of achievement. Successful candidates may progress to the Year2 in Electrical Installation for the full Certificate.

Practical and theory classes based upon the knowledge required of the electrician in terms of electrical science, wiring regulations and installation practices. All our courses are designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out within out start of the art workshops with theory work being a mix of classroom and assignment activities. The topics include:
Science of electrical engineering and provides an in depth knowledge of the wiring regulations (BS7671:June 2001).
The science topics cover electromagnetism and electric motors, alternators and other devices.
Illumination and types of lighting, AC theory, Cable sizing and Testing.
Regulations are thoroughly investigated and circuit parameters are produced from IEE tables.
