About this course

You will need GCSEs grade C and above in English, maths and science. You should also have experience in basic use of hand tools, a commitment to academic study, with a desire to learn trade skills. This is a very popular course and places are restricted.

What will I learn?
The course is delivered through a range of practical and theory sessions: prepare a worksite, establish working relationships, comply with health and safety requirements. How will I be taught?
The learning programme consists of theory in the classroom and practical training in the workshop. This course is taught over 2 years

How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through course work and six week block assessments, practical and written assignments and an external examination.

What could I do next?
You could progress to the 2nd year to complete Level 2. On completion of year 2 it is possible to progress onto a Level 3 course of study.

How would this benefit my employer?
After the 1st yr learners should be able to connect and fix electrical accessories, routing of wiring systems and fixings of wiring enclosures within an installation. After the 2nd yr learners should be able to fully install wiring systems and fix wiring enclosures and complete the basic testing for the circuits.
