Emergency First Aid

This is a one day course for all staff and all staff should complete this course.

Aims and Objectives

• Assess situations, carry out appropriate action - informing relevant emergency services if required and staying safe

• Check and clear airways

• Place the casualty into the recovery position - demonstrate knowledge of when to use this position

• Artificial ventilations and chest compressions (CPR)

• Recognise shock and treat accordingly

Understand the basic requirements to:-

• Control bleeding

• Recognise and treat head injuries

• Deal with chemical contamination and poisoning

• Burns and scalds

• Fractures
