Coach to Managers in the Statutory and VCS sectors
Course tutor Rob Hunter, formerly Community Education Advisor, Leicestershire County Council, is an experienced trainer and consultant working with children’s and young people’s organisations through the Youth Affairs Unit at De Montfort University, the National Youth Agency, FPM Management Development Consultancy and the Open University. He currently acts as a coach to several managers in the statutory and VCS sectors.

Research links emotional literacy to enhanced happiness, improved personal and interpersonal effectiveness, and development as a learner. Social and emotional aspects of learning are high on the government’s agenda. This course will enable practitioners working with children and young people to better understand the concept and harness emotional literacy effectively.
Who is this course for?
This course is for managers, staff and volunteers in all sectors of Children and Young People’s Services.
Objectives
By the end of the course you should be able to:
· Critically describe the concepts of ‘emotional literacy’ and ‘emotional intelligence’.
· Develop strategies to review, maintain and develop your own emotional literacy.
· Incorporate into your practice a range of strategies to develop the emotional literacy of the children and young people you work with.
· Analyse how the processes and culture of your organisation could improve the emotional literacy of staff, children and young people.
