English for Online Academic Purposes

This course has been designed specifically for an online audience. It uses a range of interactive activities to support learning including discussion forums, online readings, interactive lectures, videos and online tutorials.

It runs for 10 weeks, and you will have 10 hours of interactive lessons and activities each week, plus additional time for self-study and homework completion.

In addition to the online learning resources designed specifically for this course, you will have access to the King’s Library electronic resources to help you with your studies.

Assessment

Your progress will be assessed using a series of written essays, quizzes, spontaneous written responses and reflective tasks, all of which will be carried out online. At the end of the course, you will be expected to understand a range of academic grammar and vocabulary, as well as vocabulary specific to your discipline.

The English for Online Academic Purposes course is specifically designed to prepare you for the rigours of your online master’s degree. Whether you need to reach the English language requirements of your chosen programme or you want extra preparation before you start, this course will give you the skills you need to succeed at King’s.

Just like our online master’s degrees, this ten-week course (offered part-time) is delivered one-hundred percent online, giving you the chance to experience the King’s E-learning and Teaching System (KEATS) before starting your main degree. You’ll study within a thriving online community of other dedicated students.
