Who is the programme for? Those whose first language is not English and who wish to improve their English language skills for professional or social reasons. The programme is open to anyone over the age of 16.
What will I study? ESOL courses enable learners to make progress in the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Entry to the Programme?
How is it assessed? Homework and assessment in class is included. Examinations (UCLES) are taken once a year in June.
Future prospects? ESOL courses provide tuition so that learners are able to develop their language skills and, when ready, move on to mainstream courses and seek employment.
When will the programme start? Learners can begin throughout the academic year and can take the Skills for Life Examinations, First Certificate in English or Certificate in Advanced English qualifications in June.
How long will it take? Classes require attendance for one 3 hour session per week, either in the morning (9am till 12 noon), or evening (5.30pm to 8.30pm).
