About this course

You do not need exam passes to start but you do need to be at entry level in literacy and numeracy. You will have at least one interview and an assessment of your literacy and numeracy and support needs before you are offered a place

Entry Level Programme

Introduction
This is an exciting, practical course for those of you who may need some support with your learning. You will be able to improve your reading, writing, maths and computing skills and develop your personal and social skills.
You will be working throughout the college grounds and will have the chance to do a range of activities with animals, plants and gardens and in the countryside.

About the course
This programme offers a selection of activities. You will spend time each week in Animal Care, Horticulture, Agriculture and Countryside. We will keep in contact with your parent or carer all of the time you are at Reaseheath so that everyone is involved in making life at college enjoyable and successful. Your needs are fully assessed before you start and a programme is put in place to make sure that your needs are met from the first day.

The course includes
  • Maths, English or ICT (reading, writing, numbers and computers)
  • A taste of working in Animal Care, Gardening, Agriculture and the Countryside
  • Personal and social development
  • Your own Individual Learning Plan
  • Helping you to work out what to do next
  • The opportunity to experience a two night study tour

  • From 1 to 3 years depending on needs, ability and progress

What happens after I have finished my programme?
  • You could go straight to a Foundation programme
  • You could go on to a "transition" year to help you manage a Foundation/Level 1 programme in the future
