Aim This is a 1, 2 or 3 year course for anyone who has a learning difficulty or disability. The course runs for 4 days each week with the emphasis on independent living skills and work experience.
Content · Develop communication and team skills
· Develop your literacy and numeracy skills
· Experience a range of vocational skills
· IT to support your work.
You will:
· Gain work experience skills by working in our shop, postal service and catering service
· Develop independent living skills in our self-contained flat
· Enjoy arts, crafts and ceramics
· Plan meals, do the shopping and cooking
· Experience performing arts
· Continue to develop literacy and numeracy
· Have an opportunity to take part in horticulture sessions
· Have the option of undertaking a media unit.
As well as your coursework you will have the opportunity to go swimming, take part in local visits, listen to visiting speakers and join in a tutorial programme.
Progression/career opportunities
You will start on a one year programme and if you are making progress you will be invited to join the second and third year programme.
Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
