This course will help you find a better job either in your current type of work or in a different type of job completely. We will help you improve your English so you can do well in interviews. You will learn how to answer common interview questions and speak so your interviewer can understand you. You will learn how to write a good CV, make job applications and complete personal statements. In addition, throughout the course, you will receive career advice and support from City Lit’s expert advisers.

About this course

• use on-line and other sources to find work e.g. agencies
• answer interview questions confidently and accurately
• anticipate likely questions for different jobs
• use stress more effectively to make your meaning clearer
• write an impressive CV and upload it to LinkedIn
• complete a job application in accurate English, which makes the most of your skills
• write a personal statement accurately.

There are no additional costs but you should bring a pen, paper and folder to class.

This will be a practical and interactive course with lots of practice including role play. We will create interview type situations to help prepare you. You will use computers throughout the course. You will need to do some work outside the classroom to get the most from this course.

Additional information

There are many courses you could do next or at the same time as this course. You could join one our general E3 or L1 ESOL courses with an exam or Preparing for Level 1. You could do a course without an exam such as our Office Skills for ESOL students or ESOL communicating at work: customer care (entry 3-level 1). Our Grammar in Practice courses will be helpful. Students at the higher end of the level could do ESOL Pronunciation Stage 1, or Matters of Opinion (Level 1). Your tutor will advise you on the best course. There are also courses in our Digital Skills section which can help you.
