A comprehensive guide to the exhibition process, from early planning stages to the private view and beyond. The course is taught by Shirley Read, author of the definitive book on the subject: ‘Exhibiting Photography: A Practical Guide to Choosing a Space, Displaying Your Work, and Everything in Between’. You are encouraged to bring a project you would consider exhibiting, to use as a practical basis for exploring aspects including approaching galleries, getting press, budgeting, designing and hanging the show, and the private view. Get to know the professional expectations and potential pitfalls, and gain real confidence in your ability to stage a successful show.

The City Lit photography studio (at Kean St) is an annex and not part of the main building; there is no reception, so please do not arrive more then 5 minutes before the start time of your class and do try the door before ringing the bell.

You will be taught informally through discussion and visual display. You will be encouraged to visit exhibitions in your own time to inform discussion in class.
