The course will give a basic understanding of monoprinting and relief printing especially for those who would like a little knowledge of printmaking before doing other courses.
You will be given advice on other courses to continue your printmaking.

Make a monoprint and print it on a press
Use card and various textures to make blocks to print from
Ink up the block using rollers and print on a printing press
Prepare paper for printing
Recognise and understand what a relief print is.

Various monoprinting techniques including printing by hand and on the press and Introduction to making a relief block from card and using a relief press to print from.
Demonstration Practical exercises Hand-outs Group and individual advice and feedback Short group discussion. All materials and equipment are provided. From this course you can progress to VS952 'Start Printmaking' although other options can be discussed with your tutor during the course. General information and advice on courses at City Lit is available from the Student Centre and Library on Monday to Friday from 12:00 – 19:00.
