The role of social policy, health and housing in society has rapidly changed over the past decade. The effects of welfare reform have resulted in massive pressures on services provided by central and local government, welfare agencies and housing associations.

This foundation degree will provide you with the opportunity to actively engage in the analysis of cutting edge social issues as a highly contemporary, dynamic and grounded academic subject. It helps us to address some of today's most pressing social challenges by providing an understanding of how and why societies change and how policies are put in place to respond to these changes.

Students will also benefit from the degree's validation by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), the professional body for the housing sector. A number of modules on this degree count towards membership.

Whilst studying your degree, you will have the opportunity to specialise in a particular area of welfare and to gain work experience relevant to your personal career goals.
